Amurai (aka Manvel Ter-Pogosyan) was introduced to Trance music by ATBs famous track, 9PM (Till I Come). Born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1987, Amurai was constantly exposed to music while growing up in a family appreciative of the arts. After immigrating to the United States in 1991, he continued to surround himself with beautiful music which led him to engage in music composition and production.

Amurai’s first major breakthrough came in 2005 when he signed a vinyl EP with Empire State Recordings, run by prominent US-based duo, Filo & Peri. Two years later his collaboration with Static Blue lead to a highly successful release on Alter Ego Records entitled “Amurai vs. Static Blue – After the Sunrise”. During the next two years, inspiration from various classical and modern composers such as Khachatur Avetisyan, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Djivan Gasparyan lead him to begin work on a beautiful progressive track named “Tears of Armenia”, signed to Solarstone’s Deep Blue Label in 2008.

Later in 2008 Amurai signed with Armin Van Buuren’s Armada record company and secured some unique releases including collaborations with renowned vocalists Emma Hewitt and Jenni Perez. In the first quarter of 2009, Amurai launched his own electronic radio show called ‘Amurai Global’ which airs on over 10 online and FM radio stations around the world. He now uses the artist names “Amurai” and “Manvel Ter-Pogosyan” to consistently release uplifting Trance and euphoric Progressive music while creating a unique name for himself in the dance genre.

The future holds great surprises for this young producer, composer, songwriter, and DJ. Amurai recently graduated from the University of California – Santa Barbara in 2009 with a double bachelor’s degree in Political Science (International Relations) as well as Spanish culture and language. Coupled with his scholastic abilities, Amurai is ready to reinvent the music scene both in Los Angeles and the rest of the world. Keep your ears open for the new sounds of Manvel Ter-Pogosyan, aka. Amurai.
